I am not an agent nor broker just an appraiser. We have to pay brokers fees.

Got a letter from Board of Really tur*s telling me that they were going to cut me off the MLS if I didn't complete a 3 hr. Ethics course which they conveniently have on line... :) makes it easier for their wives or teenagers to take it for them I suppose...

Anyone else get this requirement?

Oh Yeah. When I joined my local 10 years ago. And it wasn't on line.

My sister joined a new one last year and had to go AND take a written exam. It wasn't on line then either.

My brother moved here last year with over 25 years as a broker and a 20 year franchise owner of nearly all o PA Re/Max, and they made him sit - no online classes.

Count your blessings. Nothing is worse then sitting in the middle of a classroom filled with real estate agents.

I just did it two months ago to have my MLS. Not on-line, in person, required or MLS shut off next day.

Got to listen to two Realtors who bragged about the multiple BPO's they were doing and watch another guy text message the whole time he was in class.

I wanted to go to a live class so I could pillar the re***tards...They wouldn't want me again...

Realtor and ethics, isn't that an oxymoron?

Terrel look at the bright side. If you take the Ethics course then you can turn the REALTORS in when you catch them screwing up. The online course only took my wife and hour and 1/2.

I'm a REALTOR (local board president), broker and appraiser and personally I don't see why appraisers should be required to take the class because they aren't required to adhere to the Code.

Agreed. We have our own class every two years called USPAP.

Check with your State Organization. In Florida there is a level of membership known as a "Thompson Broker" in reference to Thompson vs some local board. The settlement allows a foreign broker / appraiser access to the board on a per item basis if listing, or the regular monthly fee for access to MLS in general. You have no membership rights to MLS or the Board, just access to the data, and listing for a fee. I only pay the quarterly assessment, not the yearly (outrageous) fee, and new Thompson "brokers" do not have to abide by the general rules regarding training etc. You are treated like you have the plague, but the data is available at a reasonable rate.
