Hello all.

I wasn't sure where I could ask this question... but I am possibly moving to the Toronto area. Does anyone here have experience with the Canadian Appraisal Institute or may have some kind of advice as how I could get started on the process? Thank you very much.

Not sure about Canada. But you're ok in my book with Sterling as your pic. Just finished up the 7th season yesterday. Wait, what, shut up!

If you go to appraisalinstitute.org, then find an appraiser, then advanced search, enter Canada as country, you will see contact information for a couple people in Toronto and a couple for Mississauga. Good luck.

Thanks very much. Toronto is a REALLY expensive place to live so the Mississauga contacts would probably be better! Thanks again.

Don't be sarcastic. I obviously searched and found that website before I came on this forum. I was searching to individual experience on entering this profession in Canada coming from the United States. Becoming an appraiser in Canada also includes becoming a full time resident and eventually a citizen.

I have looked into this before (Oakville, very high priced). Talk extensively with appraisers before making the move. If you are a commercial appraiser there are more opportunities. For residential folks, EMILI has cut down on the mortgage side rather substantially I believe. Go visit, have candid conversations, and good luck!!!
