I recently did an appraisal for Chrysler Financial in Nashville. Did the report in a timely fashion & after 60 days requested payment. The L.O. said that since I wasn't FHA approved (am now) that they had to get another appraisal. I told them the request they sent me asked for a conventional not FHA appraisal. Told me I'd have to get my money from the borrower. I told them they ordered the appraisal & they were responsible for payment. Considering filing a claim against their bond! Anyone have this issue with said company?

If you have the order form stating "conventional", call and demand payment one more time. If LO refuses, call back and get the owner/manager on the line and tell him/her that you are owed for the appraisal and demand you receive payment by 2 days after call. If payment not received tell them that you would unfortunately have to turn them in to the state and take them to court. I've always received payment after telling them that I would notify the state. One company owed me over $3000.00 and I received it Fed Ex the next day. Play hardball, I'm so tired of wimpy-walked on appraisers.

Good luck.

I've threatened filiing a claim against bonds before & it scares the hell out of them. Might just have to scare this one! Just wondered if anyone else had the same problem with this company.

This course of action would be good. I'd do it.

Never heard of em.

No, no "issue" with this company.

If they had requested an appraisal from me, the terms would have included payment for the appraisal at the time of my inspection.

I don't want to appear curt with my response, by why invoice?

Lesson learned?

I usually C.O.D. when I'm not familiar with a company! This was a case where it was slow & they guaranteed payment. I have several e-mails from them & an engagement letter stating that. Yep, even after 14yrs of being a certified appraiser I still learn lessons. I'll get my money it's just the hassle of it. I know just about every appraiser in my area & they won't do it to any of my friends that's for sure. It'll cost them more than the $325 fee I charged them. It ain't slander if it's fact!

I've never heard of them. I did an FHA appraisal for a company out of Nashville several years ago and they got really upset when the value did not meet their expectations. They said their appraisers around Nashville will give them a call if there is a problem with the value. I told them I'm not in Nashville and I want paid. I ended up called the HOC and filling a complaint. They got the MB and me on the phone together. You should have heard that MB stumble around. I got paid within a week. No more orders from that company. Bummer!
