My local MLS has decided to make a list of designations available for members, mostly realtors, to include after their name (ie, Realtor, CPM, CRE, SRA etc.). Being the only appraiser on the committee, I was selected to compile a list of appraisal designations. Here's what I have so far:

MAI
RM
SRA
SREA
SRPA
AM
ASA
FASA
IFA
IFAA
IFAC
IFAS
MFLA
MRA
MSA
GAA
CCRA
CREA
FSA
PPA
RA
SFA
CRA
MREA

Let me know if there are any others I missed. The agents on the committee have about 40 realtor type designations so far and I would love to "out do" them :p

Be sure to mark the list with a double asterisk for those designations sold by mail!

When I was working as a trainee a lender wanted to know what our designations were. My mentor put after my name AIT Appraiser In Training.

I still use that designation.

The name escapes me but it is Lincoln Graduate school has their own Appraisers Group. They have a couple of designation I think? Mail Order designations.

OH I found it. They have several designations. NAMA National Association of Master Appraisers.

MRA Master Residential Appraiser
MFLA Master farm and land Appraiser
MSA Master Senior Appraiser

If you take a Lincoln class they will discount it the same amount as Membership. So I have been a member for a couple of years because I like their classes. But here is the qualifications for one of the designations:

MASTER RESIDENTIAL APPRAISER (MRA)

Membership shall be granted upon receipt of the completed application form, presentation of evidence of two years experience in real estate appraisal, evidence of completion of 90 classroom hours of approved tested appraisal education, including 15 hours of Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, a residential demonstration appraisal report, a designation fee of $180, and first years dues of $180 . Those showing evidence of having a valid Appraiser License (or its state equivalent) shall be deemed to have completed the experience, education, examinations, and demonstration appraisal report requirements for this designation.

Only $180??

Only problem is, you don't have to be a Real Estate Appraiser to have this one.
