No mouse detected? It's plugged in?

We have an odd problem with an old Pentium 133Mhz system running Win95. It had a Logitech trackball type mouse with it's own drivers installed on it, and we wanted to put a regular mouse back on it. But after plugging in the mouse and turning the system back on, it gives the message "no mouse detected." Put the Logitech back, it works.

Anytime I've done this before it was no problem. Plug in the mouse and go. The new mouse even said Win95 compatible.

Should we uninstall the Logitech drivers? Win95 has generic mouse drivers I think. Any ideas? :?

I would go to the control panel and click or tab over to mouse settings and see if the old mouse is still there or maybe even better go to install hardware, then install probably, Microsoft PS2 and restart your puter with the mouse already plugged in.

Sounds like you need to "re-install" the mouse driver. I would uninstall and then re-install.

Thanks ATC, Mike. Appreciate the thoughts. The system in ? is my parents old computer. I thought they had done the uninstall thing, but forwarded your answer anyway, and I guess they had not. They've decided to let the old computer keep its trackball, I guess Dad will just get used to it, And bought a new one for the new system. So they're happy.
