I usually ask the homeowner if anyone else is home when doing the interior.

Was assured today by the owner that he was the "only living one home"

Opened a bedroom door and got the c$ap scared out of me. The guy had a life size female dummy dressed in old pioneer clothes with a fake ax raised above her head staring right at me. I jumped back quickly, regained my composure and continued. If the guy had a basement I would have told him that it had radon in it as experienced appriasers can smell it. But I didn't.

I conducted the rest of the inspection in silence after the guy said, "oh, did you meet my girlfriend in the other bedroom? Ha, Ha, Ha..."

Of course I will do a professional job on his property, sigh. I would rather do a 'hatchet' job. Sorry, I couln't resist that now, hours later. I'm sure the last of my brown hair just joined the rest of the white.

Hey Frank,
I haven't heard too many complaints that this job was boring.

I have a Cherokee friend who makes jewelry and goes to Pow-wows all over the midwest. She travels with her "friend." A big Indian dummy she dressed in semi-modern clothes & flat brimmed Indian hat. She has a tepee for a booth, usually all the poles strapped on top of her rig. He looks like the real thing and she puts him in the passenger seat. Got stopped because "Joe" didn't have his seatbelt on.
