On the local front.......great meeting.

We had a meeting this morning for local appraisers who are members of ther Board of Realtors in our town. There are about 40 such appraisers and we had FIFTEEN show up for the meeting.

We were in and out in less than 2 hours and agreed to meet monthly from now on. Lots of good discussion, ideas, thoughts and opinions.

We plan to organize our on CE Class session, take turns attending state appraisal board meetings and put together a "package" to send to all lenders and real estate agents to help "educate" them on some of our issues, rules, laws and ethics.

Hopefully we can pull together and make some progress. I was pleased with the turn out and impressed with the common goals of those that attended.

I hope there will be similar groups organizing all over the nation. Strong local groups can feed state and national groups and help all appraisrers nationwide.

Bob,
What a good idea. I think getting appraisers from the local Realtor/MLS group probably would bring a larger attendance here in Detroit too. The only problem I see is if I suggest to the local BOD of Realtors, they will make me the point person. I'm not sure I want that responsibility at this time. I've just freed up some time by stepping down from some BOD's in the community and am focusing on my job and investment opportunities. But, if I'm so moved, I will mention it to the local Realtors board.

Sounds like a great idea. The real trick is communication and follow through. With you in the group (spearheading it?) that shouldn't be a problem.

As you know, we've set up a yahoo group for Florida REALTOR Appraisers. Although the messages are strictly moderated and membership is limited to Florida REALTOR Appraisers (with a few exceptions) the message section, files and photographs are available to the public. Or at least they should be. Take a peek right HERE!!

Moderating the group is fairly painless and I'm sure less of a hassle than here at Wayne's World. Maybe Wayne would set up a User's Group for the North Carolina Appraisers or Florida Appraisers?
