Most State Boards are weak and powerless just handing out licenses and collecting nickels and dimes trying to keep their lights on.

Their just open because the law requires them to be open. They have no effect either positive or negative to the average field appraiser.

Their not mandated to help one get business or keep client's their just like your DMV you take a test get a drivers licence and hear from them when it's time to pay for new tags.

The point is that if you lower requirements, then you lower the profession and the people working in it. Should we lower the requirements to be a doctor or nurse because it is hard for some people??? I don't see them doing that yet-

Actually they are lowering standards in these fields but using different methods.

It is significantly harder to become a nurse these days than it was 30 years ago. If you want a decent paying position, it requires a bachelors.

Doctor is another topic altogether. Med schools have been limiting their enrollment forever.

Again I just don't know why existing appraisers care about what the requirements are for new people and seems their concern should be making enough to live on until their Ship comes in you can't fight battles your not even in.

It doesn't take rocket science to figure out if barriers to entry go from noticeable to non-existent, the supply will increase and the potential for profit will decline significantly. But, you have to have some understanding of business and supply and demand before you can understand rudimentary economics.
