:? ACI v.7 and 8 both create very large file sizes using Win2k and HP4500 printers. Subject page produces 30meg file in Win2k with full appraisal producing over 40meg, but Win98 produces less than 7meg and full appraisal 9meg. Results in very slow printing with win2k.
Have found no other applications to be doing this.

ALSO, using win2k makes for slow access of all file data with ACI.

So far ACI has listened but has been unresponsive for fixes in either version. As we are all now starting to see the full color lasers in the industry this will continue to be a problem until it is addressed.
Rolling back the operating systems to Win98 is not cost effective, but was a suggestion from ACI.
We need to see a fix for this.
Any Ideas??????

Dave:
Have you considered setting up an old machine to do nothing but scroll to your printer? We had that problem a few versions ago, and wound up using the machine we rolled down to the kid as a server exclusively for the printer....
Not a great fix but better than nothing...

Are you running .zoo files rathar than ACI?

Zoo is s_l_o_wer than molasses.

Dave,
We had a similar problem printing to our HP5si. I was able to get more memory for the printer & the problem has been resolved. It won't help opening your files of course, but printing should be much better.

I provide support for the office poster Dave Doering owns. We have tried all variations possible with win95, w98, w2000 and the results are the same. ACI v.8 produces a large print document. Printers tried are both network TCP connected and shared, tried both ways. Even Adobe PDF files print almost as fast as you can send them, it's just ACI 8 having the problem. So for now we are waiting for v.8.5 to try some differences.
Since we have constructed a VPN setup between 10 offices we would like to print between the offices, however if you try to send a 30meg print file this way it won't work.
Robert.
