Gutmann & Middleton, one of Ohio’s oldest appraisal firms, is seeking State Registered Real Estate Appraiser Assistants in Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati, OH. As part of a strong regional appraisal organization, you will produce credible and reliable results for clients and other intended users. Ideal candidates must possess a strong sense of urgency, quality customer service skills, timeliness and enjoy working in a competitive industry. Meeting and exceeding client expectations, particularly regarding turn-times, is critical. You will be responsible for:

· Establishing a scope of work necessary for all assignments based on the client's needs.

· Making onsite visits and inspecting properties.

· Assembling, analyzing, interpreting and reporting on appraisal data.

· Completing USPAP compliant appraisals of real property using internal and external sources.

We are looking for candidates with strong analytical and communication skills, who are interested in advancing their careers. Qualified candidates must currently be State Registered Real Estate Appraiser Assistants or willing to become a State Registered Real Estate Appraiser Assistants within 3 months of start date of employment. Primary Job Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate core competencies in the following areas:

  • Assist in managing work flow for group
  • Complete area descriptions, zoning, and various other real estate related materials and information
  • Obtain market data and perform data analysis
  • Perform research and special projects
  • Maintain library of analyzed data, descriptions and other documents
  • Investigate and gather data required for estimating value, including, but not limited to, tax and assessment data, market statistics (vacancy, absorption, and other supply/demand factors), comparable data (land sales, lease and sale comparable)
  • Set appointments to view/inspect property
  • Take detailed photographs of the property
  • Take detailed notes regarding property during site visit/inspection
  • Assist team members on various projects as required
  • Consistently and independently handles all aspects of the job well within a defined territory.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
Basic Qualifications

  • Highly professional image and friendly demeanor when interacting with customers
  • Superior client service and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate an extremely service-oriented attitude and strive to provide high quality work
  • Ability to collect real estate data and information pertaining to land, building, tax and zoning through public systems and market sources
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks concurrently and in a fluid work environment
  • Work well in a team/office environment
  • Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office including (specifically Word, Outlook and Excel)
  • Excellent analytic, research and writing skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to travel to property inspections a plus
  • Willingness to receive feedback regarding analysis, processes and work product
  • Ability to complete work in an acceptable time frame and manage a variety of detailed tasks and responsibilities simultaneously and with accuracy to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives and satisfy internal and external customer needs related to the job.
  • Open and flexible when it comes to ongoing training, organizational change, and managerial direction.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel locally to complete appraisal assignments.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed State Registered Appraiser Assistant program or in process.
  • Experience in real estate, mortgage lending, property preservation or similar strongly preferred.
