"......just as long as it creates a hugely overvalued market based on nothing more than whimsical fantasy and saddled with the potential for a long-term accrual of debts that will never be paid back......"

MODS... Mistake, I think this should be moved to "Watercooler"

Ah, the Onion.
I always find their stuff funny, but I'll admit to having a wacky sense of humor.

We need to find out what that next bubble will be so we can get in on the ground floor!!

The scary thing is I believe this is how our government really looks at our economy. They certainly did nothing to stop the bubbles that have occured, on the contrary they seemed to encourage the RE bubble.

I liked the fairy dust bubble idea, but it is too like the Zaio magic beans (which aren't doing so well).

I think a good bubble would be to sell silver dollar plants. Has just the right catchy name.

I'd be tempted to laugh, but I think its too too true.

The houseing bubble and the dot.com bubble both have as one of their root causes, baby boomers with big piles of retirement dollars looking for something to invest in an not caring if they have no expertiese to back up their choices. I figure they've got 1 more good round of this in them before they start blowing it all on in home health care.

Hey, maybe I should be investing in in home health care services.

If you missed the bubble in Hair Transplant and Rogaine related shares ('90s)
and the pop-up in ****** related shares (late '90s),
you're just going to have to wait for the Cane/Walker/Hot-Rod Wheelchair boom.
DEPENDS manufacturers might be a good intermediate-term buy.
Now if you have a really Long-Term investment time-horizon -you might think about a few shares of Casket & Funeral Home services - and let them grow via drips..... (but then you'd have to sell the Depends)

There will always be another Ponzi scheme. Look for the next one to be started by a well tanned inmate at a California federal prison.

You need to see my 35 hr. Cialas spoof commercial..

The Onion is pretty much describing the state of the oil patch today...Crazed investors paying anything to get into a "resource play" while old oil fields where the real money is are quiet. I've heard E. Oklahoma has a few old timers who are fixing up their old wells but hardly a soul is exploring there and the drilling is cheap as dirt compared to these huff and puff horizontal gas wells..

Serious face ON
  • Next bubble has already started-
  • Anything and everything "Green"
Serious face OFF

- not counting Kermit

  • could be right. people standing in line to save $1000 a year in gas buying a car that will need a $10,000 battery in 5 years...did i miss something in math class? And the Global Warming crowd are hedging...calling it "climate change", that way when its too hot, that's because of climate change. When it snows in Texas in June, that's climate change.....you get the picture.

That's hilarious. :rof:

Anything green may be a good thought.
but I'm stuck between fairy dust and widgets.

Although fairy dust might attract the DEA,
guess I'll invest in the widget bubble. :leeann2:
