MS Streets & Maps and Dolorme, long dead but not yet buried, are really showing their age without annual updates but continue to be the most flexible overall go-to application for flexible maps. Google just doesn't cut it and I don't believe that the price for the online maps with Streets old features are a good value.

They weren't all that great to begin with, but they did the job quickly without a lot of complication.

Anything yet out there to replace these old apps? I'd think there would be enough profit in a desktop overlay of Google or another online map that you can modify and customize interactively at a one-time price rather than pay as you go, but so far I've seen nothing. Anybody?

Street Atlas used to be good maps...PITA now. It shows every farm pond and mudhole in my county making rural maps look like it has a bad case of measles so I contacted them and they said it was a feature that I couldn't turn off. I now contemplate using on line map services like MapQuest and creating my own with a photo editing program.

I am still using Street Atlas USA by Delorme 2011 version. I just draw my new streets in. I hate the newer versions.
