The General Assembly in Arkansas adjourned last week, and the real estate industry dodged a bullet. A proposal to levy a sales tax on appraisal fees, escrow fees, and real estate sales commissions died in committee. Just curious, what is the practice in other locales regarding sales taxes on real estate services?

Ohhh boy, that would fly like a lead airplane, and I think the Realtors would make sure that it never left committee. Many years ago, a similar proposal died in GA.

Besides, we are already paying taxes on our income, and as an employer. :eyecrazy: Pleezz take more, everyone knows real estate people work only 30 minutes, and enjoy making easy millions $$$$.

New Mexico has had a sales tax on real estate sales for years.
