I use ACI, and send as pdfs to the clients. In the last few days, I've had one client tell me that the forms are not signed, but when I open up my email with the attachment - it IS signed. I'm thinking my client made some change to her pdf reader and now it's not displaying the signature. Has anyone else had this issue? I thought it was addressed earlier, but when I did a search nothing came up.

Any help is appreciated.

When I used to have ACI, when I "cloned" a report...this would occasionally happen. Especially if the report was on a disk or other storage device, and not in the appropriate ACI folder on my hard drive. I have no idea why it happened, either.

We have had thsi happen. This can be because of the compression settings for graphics in your PDF writer.

Possible fix: Open your PDF writer, Click Properties, Printing Preferences, then Click Graphics, check the tops 3 boxes and set them to 300.

As for the conspiracy theory alluded to above, this can happen with any appraisal report if the PDF settings in the writer conflict with those of the reader. Tha basic problem is that your software generates a graphic that is too "intense" for the Adobe reader settings. I do not use ACI, but have had the same issue. It usually happens after I install an update that changes the PDF settings.

Vivian,
Dwiley came very, very close to the answer. This is something that we do see at ACI from time to time. Normally what is happening is that the recipient of the PDF, your lender, is running an older version of the Adobe Reader software. Typically, the 5.0 version or older. Unfortunately with the newer versions of PDF software that have been developed, there can be unintended side effects for those viewing files on an older reader (software). Luckily as the reader is free software, your lender can update their reader to any version above 5.0 and the signature should display as usual. In fact, Vivian, if you question the lender a bit more about the signature not appearing, they will probably state that they see a big black box where the signature should display. Once they update the Adobe Reader, this will no longer occur.

Adobe Versions

The most likely problem is that the person receiving the report is using a different version. The most common occurrence is that if a Version 7 is sent to a person using Version 5, the graphic (Signature) will be jumbled or unreadable. I had that problem with the Denver VA office. This problem is not very well documented on Adobe Website.

The short term fix is to have the person who receives the report, use Adobe Reader instead of their main program. If you have version 7, best to upgrade as this version was very quirky and does not read some old files.

It would be helpful to post your version # and version of the client receiving the report to check on this theory.

Using the solution I posted above, we were able to satisfy clients that did not want (or were not allowed) to upgrade their reader.

I also have had this problem.
I stopped using the ACI built in PDF maker.
Problem was resolved when I use Adobe Pro 8.

I was getting calls because it was in the PDF, but when they printed to paper it was gone.
