Since 1977 I have labeled a freestanding duplex on its own lot as "detached" since the HOUSE is not attached to any other structures.

Now a lender is asking that I label this freestanding structure as "attached" since there are two living units inside the structure. What is the property label please?

Please translate into English. If there are 2 living units inside the same structure, what is the question?

Brits would call it semidetached.

Is it a duplex or two single-unit residential properties?

You're referring to a 2-family dwelling, right? The structure setting by itself, right? This is a detached structure.

we need to define duplex

(a) duplex - 1 property with 2 living units
(b) duplex - 2 properties with a common wall

if (a), then detached
if (b), then attached
