My keyboard is not responding. It's wireless, so I tried replacing the batteries, with no luck. Then I bought a new one, and it's still not working properly. Sometimes it works OK, and then you have to wait 2 or 3 seconds to get a response from pressing the key. I reset the computer back to before this started happening, but it didn't help. I removed the key filter in control panel. I removed temporary files. It took about six minutes to type this post. Any suggestions?

I'm pretty much a computer idiot, so bear that in mind. Have you tried a hard wired keyboard? If that works OK, it may be an indication that the problem is in your wireless settings.

Sometimes, proximity ot your monitor(s) can have that effect on WiFi keyboards. Try pulling your keyboard 8 or 10 inches back. Cheap fix if it works.

I tried your suggestion, and found an old wired keyboard I'm using right now. It's old & I don't like it, but seems to be working better. I'll probably get a better wired keyboard today. I don't know why the wireless quit working. Thanks!

Do you hear a voice saying "I'm sorry, Dave. I am afraid I can't do that"?

Never should have named your computer HAL.

Caution, it may be a failing motherboard or processor. I had an Intel processor go bad. Took the computer to my parts source, they put in an older but similar processor and solved the problem. Run a diagnostic and check for other slow response times. Is there anything new in the house that might be interfering with the signal?

I've got it plugged into a front port. And I wondered about something new interfering with it's signal, but there's nothing new in my office. The keyboard is only about 24" from the USB receiver. It's functioning better now, but still occasionally lags. I wonder if I've got some kind of malware that's maybe slowing down my computer.
