This past Friday morning (Yesterday 5-31-2002) a Certified Appraiser 20+ years of experience, that has posted on here in the past, not only signed the petition but had commented during construction of the petition. He no longer post & seldom looks at the Forum his reason "Because it has become a group of Winer's & Clowns" YES this is one persons opinion but I know I can't seem to find A LOT of the guys & gals that gave me so much over the past 5 +/- years I've been coming to this forum. For those that are still here & those that just "Browse" THANKS & if U see some of the OLD TIMERS Invite em back If for nothing more than a reminder that there KNOWLEDGE is appreciated. Everything of Value in life I've learned from someone older than me.

Yeah,
What ever happened to the eloquent and knowledgeable Dick Doleman? I don't know Dick's age but he used to post on the "old forum" all the time. Dick if your out there give us Winers and Clowns a sign.

Karl:

In the old days I thought of this often:

Well, I don’t know why I came here tonight,
I got the feeling that something ain’t right.
I’m so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I’m wondering how I’ll get down the stairs.
Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right,
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.

Stuck In The Middle With You
(Rafferty/Egan)

There have always been clowns and jokers. I qualify as one of the old timers but in the beginning on Wayne's World, sometimes, a couple of hours or gasp, even days, went by before any one posted. A lot of us posted, because few did and in some cases it seemed to be the right thing to do. Someone asked a great question.

Now with the volume, posts often go to second page in the first day. There is little we can add so I think we are content to let other step in. Don't worry, we are still around and once in a while we are compelled to post. You still can take to the bank anything said by Chip Wagner or Brian J. Davis. Whenever Bobby posts, you are reading literature better than some in the writings of many modern writers like Hunter Thompson and others. Frank Gregoire, Steven Santora, Ann O'Rourke and the Internet master Michael Cartwright without exception still contribute.

There are a lot of us stuck in the middle. Personally I think the new crop of clowns and jokers are a hoot.

Regards,

My understanding of the Forum is that it's for those who post and share their views with those who post and share their views. It's also for those who view and don't post.

For the category that doesn't post and thinks of the rest of us as "Winer's and Clowns," -- I'm the latter when properly wined.

But wind me up and tell me to whine ... now, that another matter!

Karl

what I've found interesting, is that there can be, in some instances over 600 peeks at a thread and only 15 responses. I think their all still viewing, but have decided to stick with that for now.

And to Doug;
movein to Montana soon, gonna be a dental floss tycoon -Frank Zappa

A person who complains is a "whiner" not "winer"

That having been said and in defense of the forum, there are whiners and clowns EVERYWHERE, not just here. If they comprise 10% of the general population, why not here???

In my opinion, this forum is many things to many people. No one knows EVERY web site, and reading the posts has led me (and others) to sites we did not know exist.

Also, I DARE the critics to be "UP" on each and every change that takes place in the industry. By reading a selected topic, you tend to pick up some small details that may have escaped you while you were busy making a living.

Next, being able to ask literally hundreds of appraisers--- from all walks of life and all levels of experience---across the country the same question, you get input and points of view previously never accessible.

Finally, isn't it nice to be able to "blow off steam" sometimes to people who kind of know what you are going through??? Didn't you (the critics) ever have an experience and wonder if its YOU who is crazy?? It's comforting to know that you can post and find people who have had similar problems, and helpful to hear what their experience has taught them.

I'm HAPPY to weed through the posts of the whiners and clowns to find the "gems" of wisdom and information out there.

Karl,

There's an ebb and flow in many things, Wayne's World too. Periodcially the tone here gets a little wild, but you can count on useful information to be posted regularly. Now, we just have to sort through a little more chatter.

I suspect the regulars here would be surprised at the number and identity of lurkers making regular visits, and how they use this forum as a resource. This window on and into the world of appraisers is many things to many people, and used in a variety of ways.

Every now and then it takes a direction not too pleasing and informative, but, so far, it has always come back. As such, this is a great place to visit.

As I get older, Karl, more often I'm learning things of value from folks younger. Regardless of the source, what's important is to keep learning and recognize when the gift is offered.

Frank G.

Hey, just what did you learn from us/we youngin's cause I know I a'int as old as you

Karl, tell the old guy to resume posting. We need more experienced clowns or experienced whiners or whining clowns or clowning whiners, whatever. I take free knowledge where ever and however I can get it...... some humor thrown in is fine cause appraising all the time is well, boring.....

Frank, I knew you'd like my new avatar..........

Exactly!

Above all, I do believe that some of the press and legislator interest we are beginning to see started right here - THE Appraisers Forum.

WE are making a difference!
