There are now over 7300 individuals who have signed the petition linked here.

Most are appraisers, who indicate that there is a problem with lender pressure.

In the light of the above reccomendation to get involved and make yoru voice heard... may I reccomend you take the tiem to read this petition and sign if you feel it is appropriate and reflects your concerns... and then TELL someone that you and over 7300 others want change!

Hmmm...

How about THAT... averaging 100 new signatures a month...
on a protest paper on and unadvertized site for industry professionals

Where the link is tucked away in an obscure forum entitled "improving the profession'...

and something close to 100 individuals per month find and sign,
adding their nanes to a justifiable concern....

Are the users and regulators of appraisal services paying any attention?

Lee Ann,

If every regular at this site would e-mail the petition to 5 friends and ask them to send it on to five of there friends the signatures would climb dramatically.

How can I verify the legitimacy of this petition?

It asks for personal information which I'm aware is necessary for an honest petition, but who is actually collecting this info?

Call me suspicious, but what if, for instance, the names are being collected to create a list of appraisers that won't "play ball"?

I would gladly sign this if I can somehow be assured it's real.

The petition was drafed here on this Forum and this is the only place it's located.

I'm #42 on it. Hasn't hurt me at all.

I hope it is a list of appraisers that won't "play ball". That's how I like to think of everyone here.

In fact I would consider it an honor to be on lists of appraisers who won't "play ball". Do you really want to be sure you don't get on such a list?

Kevin,

I personally know the guy who put the first signature on the petition.

He is the last person you should fear. It has not hurt his business either.

Andrew:

At 100 signatures per month on average... and only 600 views from this specific thread/site... most folks ARE finding their way to the petition through 'other means'...

Which means I suspect are mostly word-of-mouth from other appraisers....

Tell a friend. tell five friends.

You guys talked me into it...both my wife and myself (same office) will sign it...how do you track the effectiveness of this petition? I'm sick of catching flack from lenders when the property does not live up to their number.
