Sorry I'm sure this has been hashed and rehashed. I found a buy on a well conditioned Mavica 200 and couldn't resist and still use my 75.

Does anyone else still use these for residential or commercial?

I have 3 of them and wouldn't want anything else.

Same MVC-FD200 been using it for 8 years. Great camera love the floppy disc.

I've been using mine for 5 years now. I've gone through 4 of em. Now using the FD100 and love it. I don't use the floppy drives anymore as I have had too many problems with them breaking and/or messing up my pictures (plus the floppy drive is slow). If you use the memory stick in it, you can take pictures real fast and hold more than 25 pictures on one disk ;) I guess the only drawback is that is weighs about 35 lbs. I thought I was the only one who still had one of these dinosaurs...

My mentor has 2. He updated to the newer moded a couple of years ago, they had one left at WalGetto for $120. Batteries are available at WorstBuy. He has an archive of several hundred floppies.

I recently purchased my fourth and fifth Mavica's on E-Bay. I love them, simple and cheap.
Today I am having a very hard time posting pictures taken with a more modern digital camera( by an associate who thinks that I am old fashoned) to a report. Mavica's forever.

I can't believe I am seeing this here today!! I lost the charger for my latest digital camera so I brought along my trusty Mavica FD88 on an assignment this morning! Still works like a charm, except none of my computers has a damn floppy drive anymore....... I think I paid around $700 for this sucker back in 1999-ish......

I've used two of them through the years, and don't miss them one bit. I use small Canons that fit in my shirt pocket, are light, and hold hundreds of photos. I'd never go back to a Mavica, although I liked them 10 years ago.

That was my first digital camera back in 99 and I think I paid $650 - $700 bucks for it. I don't miss it at all, I use three different digital cameras ranging from 5 mega pixels to 12 and depending on the mega pixels used can shoot anywhere from 200 to 1400 pics or more on a 2 gig SD card.

I remember doing some large commercial appraisals and having to cart around five or six floppy's, and then seeing "disk error" come up on the screen.

I now use my Sony for a paper weight, it can hold down close to three reams of paper.....

Of course the new computers don't have the floppy drive, but I've found it easy to buy an auxiliary drive for a few bucks that plugs into a USB port.

While there are exceptions, I still find the flexibility of the floppy disk so convenient.
