The 7/23 Meeting here in Richmond

The meeting was extremely well attended, the discussion was handled in a professional manner; the meeting was very informative. The committee voted to bring a recommendation back to the full board on August 19th. This is a matter that affects each and every one of us. I strongly encourage any appraisers to come to Richmond for the August 19th full board meeting. It will again be at the DPOR conference room. The meeting is at 10 a.m. Lenders/Mgmt Cos/Appraisers are all watching what is going to occur here in VA. It is extremely important that we understand that we need to stand together. As a reminder to VA appraisers, you get CE credit for attending the meeting.

My many thanks to all who spoke so very eloquently and were so very studied in the matter. It has been a honor to stand in your shadows.
I will leave the recap of the meeting to others more eloquent; but will start the thread by saying, that 1. We need to get off our backsides and work together as a profession or we will surely sink; and 2. We need to stay informed and inform those who are too lazy, or whatever to stay informed. We need to behave more like a profession and not like slaves to the wishes and desires of everyone else in any transaction.

We are at the calm before the storm and have a short period of time to join together and make changes. We have to work together but it only takes a couple of you to get the ball rolling. All the information we've gathered and presented is available to you.

I WILL be there! There IS strength in numbers - and it is food for the soul to feel the empowerment that comes from standing with a group, fighting for what you believe and working toward a common goal that will benefit all.

I am still in total awe of the number of appraisers who made it their business to be at the 7/23 meeting and who so carefully and thoughtfully prepared their agenda for the Board's consideration.

Making the drive back from VA today, I kept seeing that room full of sincere and honest people, taking a stand, coming together, putting aside any personal or professional differences and uniting for the better good. No one can tell me, ever again, that appraisers cannot work together. I saw it up close and personal - and it has been an experience I will never forget. My sincere desire is that more will attend the meeting in August. Anyone with questions is more than welcome to ask them here or PM any of us who were present.

Liz, thank you again for offering true southern hospitality - you opened your home and your heart - and we are all grateful. I look forward to seeing you in August!
