I'm really not sure who wins the 'BEST OF' award at the moment. I am actively shopping for a package, and I believe I have read just about all the posts for all the products here on the forum. At various times I have used ACI Reports and Day One Nova. I prefer ACI over Day One, probably because I learned on ACI, but Day One was 'buggy', and ACI seems a bit behind the curve in the tech end of things. I have had various troubles with integrating sketching programs into both Day One and ACI. WinTotal looks like they are a bit ahead of the technical curve. Bradford Tech seems like they are making strides.......
So, if you were going to invest in a package RIGHT NOW, which would it be and why?

Read the individual software forums and see which one has the least complaints & problems (Bradford, of course!).

Read the individual software forums........

Good advice Em Tee, but I already have. It might be nice to have some of the same info in a nice, condensed version.....I'm easily confused! Isn't Bradford the one that draws the most complaints about 'nickel and diming to death' for every little piece of the overall package?

I think that title is held by ACI, but every vendor gets that complaint. However, Bradford, in cooperation with SFREP & WCA, does now offer subscription packages that include everything but the kitchen sink through there AppraisalWorld effort.

I can't imagine these poll results reflecting anything other than the market share of the respective companies. After all, if you don't think the software you are using is the best, why are you using it?

I like the stability and simplicity of ClickFORMS. When evaluating programs, I found I could do a report about 15% faster in ClickFORMS with fewer errors.

Flawed poll. One would have to have used ALL of them to determine the best. However, I know for a fact that ACI is the best.

I have used all of the listed programs (and a few not listed.) ACI is number 3 on my list. :new_smile-l:

I've studied them all over the years. As best I can tell the best comes down to two, Clickforms and Wintotal. Clickforms is the more simple and stable by far, and will give the least problems. Wintotal is the most complete, and in my opinion, offers a stand alone program which includes your billing sytem. For this you gain bugs and glitches and things which can take your business down for days at a time, from what I've read. Some people think it's worth the headache. Clickforms will offer you most simple, stable and reliable system, but you'll have to come up with a second billing system, such as Quickbooks. Good luck

Depends on what you want

I have tried three different brands of software. I think you need to answer the question of what you want it to do. Do you want bells and whistles and all kinds of fancy stuff or do you want a good, stable system that produces reports for you.
When I was a trainee, my mentor used ACI and I found it to be OK, but when it crashed, I lost everything.....at 4PM, with a multi due at 5PM, and had to completely recreate it! Knew then that I didn't want that program.
Went out on my own and HAD to have the latest and greatest, so I went with WinTotal with all the bells and whistles. Worked OK until Aurora came out, went through the bugs, crashes, lost information, lousy attitude toward customers, etc. After 6 months of that, I decided I didn't need bells and whistles, I needed a stable system that worked.
I am not a computer savvy person, and I don't need all the bells and whistles. I went with Appraisal Studio and am absolutely thrilled with it. Didn't take long to figure out how to use it, it is relatively inexpensive, and very stable. The only gripe about it is the mapping system is poor and I am not real thrilled with the other mapping options available, loved WinTotal mapping programs.
In my mind, Appraisal Studio is the way to go IF you don't want or need all the fancy stuff.
Just opinion from a person who is NOT computer savvy. Although, I have to say, I had a trainee at the time who had been a software engineer and even HE couldn't figure out why Aurora was so bad!!!
