***Appraiser Trainee Research for Cierra***

Hi, my name is Cierra. Currently, I'm operating as an Appraiser Trainee in the Conroe, Texas area. I'm seeking to enter a training program with an appraisal company known as RSDS Appraisal Diversity, LLC. To enter the training program, I'm required to ask 10 Certified Appraisers (in Texas) three questions. The appraisal industry is super demanding so I ask for just a little of your time. If you please do not mind, can you answer the questions listed below for my research assignment? Your answers will make a positive impact on my career!

  1. How did you come to be an appraiser?
  2. What do you enjoy most about this industry?
  3. Would you take me on as a trainee?
Thank you so much for your time!

*****You can respond by emailing me your answers to cierrajbyrd@gmail.com or you can reply to the post with your name and answers.

  1. How did you come to be an appraiser? - via a family member
  2. What do you enjoy most about this industry? the analytical skills required to produce a well supported opinion of value - single and multi-variate regression, true sales comparison, sensitivity analysis, etc.
  3. Would you take me on as a trainee? If I had bandwidth, and planned on staying in the industry - sure.

PS - best of luck to you! There is not, in my opinion, a better appraiser around than Robbie Wilson. You're in good hands.

1. We were doing a refinance to remove our private mortgage insurance and I was the dumb end of the tape for the appraiser. Since I was in construction, I was interested in the appraisal process and our appraiser was very patient in answering all the questions I had. I did some further research and boom, I was in classes.

2. I enjoy houses, how they're constructed and the materials used. The different styles, layouts, trends, I found it fascinating. I also like the research in finding the most competitive sales for the subject property. The autonomy of being an appraiser is a plus, which is sometimes a double edged sword though. Thank goodness form filling services came about, as filling out the grid is tedious to me.

3. If it was the way it used to be with mortgage brokers ordering the appraisals, sure! That is, after interviewing you and seeing how you took to the studies of being an appraiser and if we were a good fit for each other.

In my opinion, the current way of acquiring gigs (through AMC's) is not well suited for the appraiser, trainee relationship of yesteryear

I know I'm not in Texas, I just thought it was an interesting, fun thread to jump in. I like your creativeness in finding a mentor. Good luck!

Can I answer these questions or this tread's purpose is to find a supervisor appraiser in your area? Then, I am not qualify since I am in California.

The purpose of the post is to find a supervisor in my area. However, all feedback/answers are welcomed and well-received!

"To enter the training program, I'm required to ask 10 Certified Appraisers (in Texas) three questions".

Just tell them my answer comes from an alternative, competitive state...that should work! :)
