Unbelievable

I figure it was the owner of "A Better Appraisal" who made the post, in an effort to advertise and bring in some more business.

They are right out of my market area and my area code, but I have never heard of them. Yet, they probably have never heard of me either. Isn't the name a little contrite. Was there a national survey that rated their product better? How can they make that statement without actually proving they have the better product each and every time? Can I change my company name to "Better than the Better Appraisal"? Why would I bother? I would not like the free advertising they just received. Stay tuned, folks.

Tim:

You could be the "Best Little Appraisal Company in Texas"!

A company can call itself anything it wants. It is just a name not a claim.

Ahhhh not quite true. Try calling yourself McAppraisals and see what happens.

How about "An Even BETTER Appraisal Service"? or "A Betterer Appraisal Service"? :D Do you want fries with those?

It is amazing to see the names people put on their company. Apparently they give no thought whatsoever.....just check your yellow pages and you'll be shocked by not only the names in the ads, but the slogans. I think it's best to avoid superlatives completely.

I went to their web site and read the first paragraph and stopped. But I loved this little diddy.

We have a Certified General Appraiser who heads up our Commercial Appraisal Group who is a Senior Master Appraiser (certified by the National Association of Master Appraisers) as well as carries an MBA in Real Estate, has a law degree AND is a real estate broker to boot. That means that he knows his stuff better than anyone you've ever seen before.

Anyone recognize Senior Master Appraiser designation? NAMA, if you have a Cert. General and $250 +/- you to can be a Senior Master Appraiser! I belonged the NAMA for a while and they were more than happy to sell me a designation.

Their part of Lincoln Graduate and I like their classes. If you take a class they will discount the class the cost of membership. So what the heck I joined. Never did buy me a designation though. Gee, I could be a Master Appraiser too.

Whats the advantage of using an appraisal company run by a marketing guy? I think I would prefer an actual appraiser.

So we have an appraisal company run by a non-appraiser who has a talent for reinventing and looking critically at each component? What the heck does that mean? Sounds kind of familiar.

I didn't see any mentions of vans though........................

Their primary appraiser spent his entire life in customer service?

Do you want fries with that 2055? Would you like to supersize that order?

Bobby:

If the names and slogans in the yellow pages got you attention they were probably doing the job they were intended to do. It's a marketing technique.

It's not surprising that a company called "A Better Appraisal" is run by someone with a marketing background.
