The following is an updated email from Alex Grist of Bert Rogers School regarding the CE:
Pam,
I have resent the email because I added more details.
Thanks for considering participation in our pilot testing of appraiser continuing education. I am looking for about 20 individuals interested in taking 1 to 3 of our 7 courses, including the end-of-course exam. For this, they will receive free continuing education credit equal to the number of hours they complete. In return, we will expect a review of course and examination content provided through a questionnaire we will send with the material. Also, we will expect completion of the course(s), examination(s), and questionnaire(s) within 2 weeks of receipt. Our plan is for you to receive the material in about 1 week. The course material would be a printed copy; copies are also available online as PDF files. The examination must be taken online at our website.
The courses range from 3 to 6 hours, with 3 exam questions per course hour (except for the 3-hour course that has 10 questions instead of 9); examinations range from 10 to 18 questions. Due to recent legislation, the examination will be timed and must be taken online. In about 2 to 3 weeks we will be mailing a textbook, at no obligation, with all 30 hours to all appraisers registered, licensed, or certified with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Payment is only required upon registering to take an end-of-course examination.
If we get many people signing up for particular courses and not enough for others, we may have to "assign" courses to some individuals. If you would like to evaluate a course, please choose at least three courses and rank them according to your preference. Below is a list of courses and the number of hours for each course:
USPAP Update--4 hours
Florida Law Update--3 hours
Appraisal Research and Analysis--4 hours
Sales Comparison Approach--6 hours
Residential Subdivision Analysis--5 hours
Neighborhood Analysis--4 hours
Communicating the Appraisal--4 hours
TOTAL: 30 hours
If you are interested in participating, please provide contact information that includes your name, license number, current mailing address, and phone number by Friday, May 24.
