I bought ACI back in '97 when going digital was all the rage. Never used it. Now, I'm wanting to jump into the EDI pool...but don't know how!

Can I buy the V8 upgrade, a digital signature and be ready to go? Do I have to buy that $99 lender package if I do work for LSI? Do I have to buy one for EVERYBODY I want to send an appraisal to??

I don't want to spend more than I have to...

8O get floats :!: , the waters cold.... Sorry just kidding... It isn't too terribly tough.

Yup :) Mostly... the install is a little tricky see other posts here.

Yup and Nope - despite their desire to go fully digital they still accept nondigital format appraisals :o - does your competition meet their need?

Yup... Nope.... errrr "Sort of" ??? :?
IF your client(s) will acept PDF files and you have Adobe PDF writer you should not have to buy any 'other packages' than for national AMC firms.

They have several packages customized to National's:
Landsafe, LSI, VIT, and I forget who all else.

I don't want to spend more than I have to...
Boy do I understand... Plan on pulling out your wallet, they require a fair number of $$ annually.

Budget and PAY for the support you will probably need it.

Good luck!

There is an ACI user group, and several folks here who are knowlegable and helpful.

Kathy,

I use ACI and just recently upgraded to the V-8 and it works fine. I purchased Adobe 6.0 for 200 bucks, well worth the investment. Those two programs allow me to send over 95% of all my work EDI. I just convinced one client to make the switch and gave my best client a color printer to speed things along. The money saved in postage, paper, ink, and most of all, time is amazing.

Make the switch!

I've saved more than the cost of the yearly update in printing costs and shipping costs by doing the great bulk of the reports EDI. I use ACI 8.1 as well as ADOBE. Watch the Adobe install - use the custom, not typical as Adobe tends not to install writer as part of the basic install. ACI 8 won't open V.6 files but you can convert them - there's a conversion function.
