The future of the valuation profession is being shaped right now.

This week, AI President Michael Mignogna and Director of Government Affairs Scott DiBiasio are attending the Appraisal Foundation Board of Trustees meeting, where discussions on appraiser qualification requirements and profession growth are front and center.

Before the meetings kicked off, our team connected with valuation leaders from around the world, covering topics like global standards development, technology's role in the profession, and how to bring more people into appraisal.

This is the work that moves the profession forward.

global standards...you mean socialism...just another stupid post cha ching :rof:
Nice pic. Thanks for posting. Have not seen it previously.

Here is what I know:

During the April meeting of the Florida Real Estate Appraisal Board, a decision was made by Division of Real Estate staff and the Florida Real Estate Appraisal Board to award equivalency credit for 7-hours of Continuing Education for appraisers that attended a 7-hour Valuation Bias and Fair Housing Laws and Regulations Course. The decision was to waive the fee for equivalency credit.

To obtain the credit, the appraiser must have taken a 7-hour course that meets the Appraiser Qualifications Board requirements for the course (Most have them do and have been approved in other states).

The Rule for obtaining equivalency credit is 61-J1-4.002 Equivalency Education.

The criteria for approval of equivalency for courses completed by individuals seeking credit for pre-registration, pre-certification, or
appraiser continuing education shall be that the course or courses covered substantially the same subject matter, hours of attendance,
hours of instruction, and completion standards as prescribed by the Florida Real Estate Appraisal Board in Rules 61J1-4.001, .003
or .007, F.A.C. Application for past course evaluation shall be accompanied by an official transcript or other documentation showing
the subjects taken together with the date completed and grade received. If the requested information is found lacking to show course
equivalency, the Board shall request supportive documentation to determine course equivalency.

After completing the course developed for a national appraisal organization, I sent the course completion certificate, the student course handbook, a description of the course from the provider, and proof it was approved by the Appraiser Qualifications Board. My credit was approved within days.

Thank you Francois! This is very helpful.

Just more PR crap. They have to do something to justify the all inclusive (Hotel, Meals etc) meetings. That's why they are smiling.

Back to Bias and Fair Housing, I'm also a Broker in NY and now I need to take CE after 39 years (I was Grandfathered in after 25 +/- years with no CE needed).
Now, I need to take BOTH Realtor Bias and Fair Housing and Appraiser Bias and Fair Housing. They are the same, but I kill 12 hours of my life to have to take BOTH for CE every 2 years. We were sold a lot of crap and did not push back.

As far as I know, the New York State Association of Realtors goes along with what is in this post from December of last year. It's clear some folks do not want to take the classs, but there is no need to take it twice or two different courses.

Thank you....I already took the NAR Bias 7 hours last week. I wonder if I can submit that and pray AQB will take it.

Best to check with your state appraisal board. The AQB publishes the course outline. State Boards do the approval of courses.
