Had to check and make sure my fax machine is indeed plugged in and my e-mail is still working. Yup, just brutally slow. Maybe I should start practicing saying "paper or plastic" or "would you like fries with that?" I will need to start looking for something to do as I do not think it will get any better this year. :drinking:

You got spare time, you have a computer and email. Start my working at fixing the system that hires out the lowest paid and the fast turn times.

Hang in there. 2007 was a really good year for me -- until it died in the middle of October.

But just this week, three new orders -- business is picking up, and should continue to do so over the next few weeks.

In the meantime, call your clients, and see if any of their clients have ARMs that need to be refi'd. At the least, you'll be reminding them you're still in business.

I didn't starve in 2007 but it was not as good as years past. Decemeber was bad and this is expected b/c of the holiday's, but this month I have got only one order. Less and less refi's as the year went by, which is not good. Probably about 75% purchases and 25% refi's in the last 4 months.

BAD NEWS: USA Today Reports the residential market will not return until summer 2009.

GOOD NEWS: I have turned down 9 FHA Appraisals in the last 8 weeks....2 today. FHA in demand.

I'd like to know what they mean by residential market returning. Increase in activity due to short sales and foreclosures? That would make sense to me.

What's an ex-appraiser to do? Anything remotely related to the real estate field is similarly choking.

Sure there are a few minimum wage gigs, like McDonalds...that's what, $286 for a 40 hr work week (if they allow you 40 hours) before taxes? Leaving you with $229 take home? $915 a month take home? How the #$%& do people live on that?

An other one of those threads, I learned to stop whining, and think about diversifying, you never know, this might open opportunities for you, and be thankful for the slow times.....

Remember think out of the box...........opportunity in knocking........
