My mom just got it about a week ago. She is 80. She went through a drive through at health dept in rural county. She has to go back in about 3 weeks to get second dose. She never got out of car. They asked her to wait in car for 30 minutes in parking lot. If your over 75 years old, your in phase 1 I think,

 I'd take my chance if that's the choice. The side effects can be as much as anaphylactic shock - which can be really severe. My father was allergic to bee stings and would need an EpiPen to keep from going to shock. His eyes would swell shut within minutes even if stung on the hand or leg.
Allergies can be a problem I think. You need to stay close by if you have allergies of any kind because I think they can give you a shot of something else if you have an allergic reaction.

Mom said she was allergic to something, and they asked her to park in parking lot close for 30 minutes and let them know if she was having any reactions. She thinks she is allergic to like a cholesterol medicine. She could be. Anyway, she made it.

Kroger told me to hang around on TDAP vaccine. I said, I'll be here for 30 minutes. I am shopping.

My arm swelled with a flu shot about 4 years ago. They warned me it was hot. It hurt a lot. I doubt I have missed a flu shot in 25 years. I know we used to get some wormer medication for cows that burned because a lot of them showed that it hurt even though injected under the skin.

Your a little allergic it to it then. I have never had any reactions to flu shot other than sore arm sometimes.

My friend that was POW in World War 2 for 16 months would faint after flu shot. Sometimes he would have to go to hospital. He took it every year. He was a Man's man. He was special.

His reactions happened quick. Didn't last long.

My wife got that wormer shot years ago and confirms that it hurts.

From what I have read. The standard protocol is that you have to wait 15 minutes after the shot before you are released. One of the reasons that the vaccine is a little slow getting out. Most places have limited areas for people to wait after the shot. Made worse due to social distancing. Plus limited staff to just monitor. As far as anaphylaxis. CDC says 11 out of 1M. Worse than 1.3 out of 1M for flu vaccine. But that could be due to the somewhat limited cross section of the population getting the covid vaccine. Maybe these groups are more susceptible to allergic reaction for some reason.
