New Windows XP Service Pack (SP1)

Microsoft has just announced the release of Service Pack 1 (SP1) for the Windows XP operating system. SP1, which can be downloaded from Microsoft's web site or ordered on CD, includes updates that will resolve security and performance issues, adds USB 2.0 support drivers and contains technology required to enable Windows Powered Displays, Tablet PCs and XP Media Center PCs. The update makes modifications to XP that were required by the consent decree with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and nine US states. In addition, SP1 improves measures that Microsoft has developed to prevent software piracy. Before you download SP1 from Windows Update, you may want to check out the Windows XP SP1 area of their web site.
