Hi All,

Some of you were around the last time this sales tax on service deal raised it's ugly head. A ROYAL Pain. This proposed CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT is worse.

Twleve Members of the Florida Legislature (not a majority of both houses) could decide you must charge a sales tax on the service you provide.

You must get a tax number.
You must collect the tax.
You must make monthly accounting to the Department of Revenue.
You must make monthy deposits to the Department of Revenue.
You will be asked to eat the tax from your major and volume clients.

Visit ZAP THE TAX!! for more information.

Vote No on Amendment #5

Um, you'd think that with all that LAWYERS, accountants, doctors, and brokers stand to lose from this tax, they'd be screaming like banshees.

(Wow, can you just IMAGINE the tax revenue from attorney's fees? Those guys in Tallahassee must be slobbering just thinking about it. Then again, they're all attorneys and they've probably put in an exemption for themselves.)

We appraisers are a little drop in the hat. Where are the big guns with the loud and obnoxious attorneys?

I haven't read the proposal in detail - yet. If the attorneys are not screaming, they're probably exempt.

Pam, John McKay, Senate President is from Manatee County is one of the leaders of this. I helped get him started in politics down here, but I now regret it. And he is a developer not an attorney.

Jim,

Sorry to hear that. It's so disheartening when someone we 'promoted' turns out to be something other than what we thought.

I've been thinking about contacting my local Board of Realtors about collecting for signs to be made and put up by our members. Seems like a good idea. The more signs people see, the more they tend to remember to vote that way. Frank, is this something FAR would promote?
