To make a long story short.. LEFT the appraisal world in early 08 when it crashed.. got what I thought would be secure job with local big credit card company and STUPIDLY let go 0f my Cert Res... In 2017 big co layoff (which they are known for!) but luckily I saw it coming and had started back in appraising as trainee beforehand Because lic lapse 5+ years had to start from scratch.. hours, ed and test - oh and the big credit card co actually paid for all the classes.. (a layoff perk!) so there is my story of my stupidity. 2018 - landed a job with local co. assessors office - Mass Appraisal... big change but good benefits and still do some fee on side. 2019 time to get the dam license back. All the freaking hours on the freaking sheets.. the fingerprinting and back ground check and ALL That to DPOR in early June and It takes 2 freaking months to examine this and ask for samples - then TWO more freaking months to bless me to take this dam test AGAIN. So here I sit, getting ready to schedule with PSI and I have a few questions for them but THEY don't answer the phone EITHER so I thought I would pose this here specifically to anyone who may have recently taken the test. My first question is... for the test questions relating to time value of money do they include the factor tables OR are you forced to use the HP 12 C? So IF you must use the HP 12 c (which I have, and the instructions) CAN I also bring another (plain old calculator) to do regular math with. The reverse polish notation drives me nuts. I took (and passed this test in 2008 and I remember there were a lot of trick questions).. am a bit nervous about it. This experience with DPOR makes me feel they are trying to discourage 'new' RE Appraisers... Any advice or words of wisdom welcome.. Thanks
