Get these text message all the time,

StreetLinks Order: 1234 E Main Street, Any town, USA. Field Review/1 Unit, Fee $150, Due 10/xx/13. Reply with Y to accept/N to decline

and later

We are sorry, but the order for 1234 E Mainstreet, Any town, USA is no longer available. This StreetLink order has a maximum response time of 4 hours.

How desperate must an appraiser be to accept these orders?
 
perhaps there was a typo Fee $150 and should have been $750.
 
Probably goes to an appraisal mill firm that accepts anything and makes it up in "volume"..perhaps their modus operandi is check "yes, " agree with value no matter what, then they never have to do much! That and send a HS kid out to take the photos and it's got some profit to them.
 
The FannieForm 2000® makes it easy to check boxes and make minimal comments. Add that to not driving the comps and you've got yourself a winner at $150 per.
 
I've been an appraiser for so long......"How long have you been appraising?" says the crowd.... So long I remember when Streetlinks used to have 3 pages of assignment conditions AND pay over $300.

I like the auto accept with out being able to see what I'm reviewing. Accepted one yesterday $ 375. then opened the appraisal and found 6 comps, nobody said anything about 6 comps. That's twice the time, should be at least 40% more fee!
When I get actual humans calling for quotes I ask "How many comps" they don't even know and have to look at the report to answer me.
This is exactly why I fired Tony and his gang at SL, no respect.
 
I've been working on a field review on a property that is less than 1/2 mile from my house. I started at 8:00am this morning. It is 3:18pm and I am still not even close to being finished. My fee is much higher than $150 for field reviews.

A conversation from last month, with a telephone "assignment representative" for a previously unknown AMC.

AR - "What is your fee and turn time for a 1004 in Townsend?"

Me - "Please e-mail the engagement letter, and I'll be happy to quote you a fee and turn time."

AR - "What?"

Me - (Repeat what I said.)
