I worry about dripping on people's floors too. I carry a sweat towel in summer. Holding a big golf umbrella over me and my equipment just slows me down big time and messes my shoes up. Get wet rubbing up against shrubs. I can already start working on the appraisal before the inspection. They can wait til it stops raining.
Thunder and lighting, hail, tornado etc. is a different story altogether.
I can pickup radar on my phone so I can tell if is spotty and wait til I get a break and move fast between clouds. I don't think like our electric company works in the rain. They wait to fix damages until the rain stops.
Using that criteria I wouldn’t be appraising about four months of the year and about 60 days during the warmer months. Dress accordingly and suck it up. On nice days people will always say it must be nice to be able to work outside, and I tell them It is and that they are welcomed to join me in January when it is close to 0 degrees, blowing and snowing.
I guess you missed my point. My solution is to not inspect in the rain or when it's too cold. You do what you choose to do. What makes no sense is complaining about it in the Forum.
