HUD on the radar with reported plans of closing field offices nationwide and laying off as much as 50% staff. The business is slow and operating like it's normal loan volume with many office space empty as workers never came back after Covid work from home became popular.

I attended a college that had a work internships for a semester. I remember a student was asked by a professor about her internship, "So how did your internship with HUD in Washington go?" She replied, "I learned how to sit at desk, not do anything, and read the Washington Post."

Our Hoc had some pretty good people in the appraisal department up until about 2010 and I have no idea what happened but it went down hill. The problem i think was ot became like a politically operated agency that no longer wanted to interact with the unwashed field appraisers. Lol

Anyone know how HUD compares to VA, or fannie, with staff volume. That would be interesting to find dead weight.
