I use to own a modular home business 10 years ago. Got out of it just before crash. We had our models set up on crawl spaces and all finished. We would sell the models and move them on a regular basis. We would actually split them back to their original sections and move them via truck and reset them via crane. So very possible to move a modular home.
Only manufactured homes constructed to the HUD building code can not be moved; if moved they are not eligible for FHA, USDA, Fannie and Freddie financing. Other residential properties built to other types of building codes can be moved multiple times and still qualify for any type of lending. Modular homes, both on frame and off frame are constructed to the local site building code; UBC or IRC, etc so they can be moved multiple times. And are reported on the 1004 - NOT the 1004C.
