Request to change FHA case number

Just by you putting a new signature date on it makes it kinda a new appraisal. I would also add something to your file number to be a little bit different. I would do that and wait to see if it was accepted that way. I suppose you have to say you did a previous appraisal on it, not sure about that part.

Wait, I am reading that "Appraiser may change the FHA case number on an appraisal previously submitted to FHA only if the FHA case number on the appraisal has been canceled" but then it says that "Mortgagee must order a new appraisal for each case number assignment and may not reuse an appraisal that was performed under another active or endorsed case number, even if the appraisal is not yet more than 180 Days old". So which is it? So is this considered a new assignment and do I need to reinspect?
My take this the word active. The previous case number has to be canceled before the new case number is applied to the same appraisal.

In any case, it specifically states it is a job for the mortgagee to figure out, not the appraiser.

I agree with your interpretation. I think is it okay, but I did ask for confirmation that the original case number was canceled.........still waiting.

Smart. It did say that we can if it is canceled so I would indeed confirm. Of course, we both know they will respond to you 1 hour before they need the report!

Lenders have to pull the case number before the effective date of the appraisal. Sounds like they will need you to reinspect and update the effective date. New effective date = new appraisal.

Just verified the info. It states the case number must be pulled before the effective date…..unless there is an administrative cancellation of the case number . If they ask you to change the effective date also, then I’d call shenanigans.

Seems that way. Good to be careful though. Let’s us know if they ask you to change the effective date next. Inquiring minds want to know…
