Is the surveying module available as a stand alone version, or does it have to be imbedded in APEX?

It has been included in Apex free for quite a few years and it works great. I use it daily to calculate the square footage of the subject and comparable's site area. Have even use it successfully with spiral curves.

Jo Ann is correct - it has been a part of Apex since the early 90's DOS days, though back then it was an add-on, but it has always used the Apex engine to do the drawing and calculating.
If you just have a deed or two to do, feel free to copy/paste the document and e-mail it to me and I'll run out the metes and bounds and send you back the drawing as a PDF that you can paste into your report if that will help.
