When I contacted TALCB about background checks, the TALCB staff stated the following for license applic/renewal:
Effective 1/1/2017, appraisers will be required to provide fingerprints for the background check.
Many Appraiser clients are asking for background checks. Most clients want you to use their background check service and do not want to share background checks.
I've asked the TALCB if their license appl/renewal background check can be used by the Appraiser's clients. If the Appraiser has a license, that implies the Appraiser has the TALCB required background check. This would eliminate the need and expense for the Appraiser to obtain a separate background check for each client. The TALCB response was:
The background check will be for our (TALCB) use only.
Is there anyone on this forum who has access to the TALCB staff who could talk to them and see if he can convince TALCB to allow their background check to be reused by all Tx Appraiser clients ? This is common sense.
