Buyers' Revenge: Trash the House After Foreclosure

until the bank takes possession, it is still the owner's house. they can destroy their own property without fear of prosecution, at least here in NY. Once the bank takes possession, then it is a different story.

Most mortgage documents I have read the owner signs that they will maintain the property in good condition.

Bottom line for the cops is,
they got bigger fish to fry. :fiddle:

With the rare exception. :nono:

So I guess that means that they shouldn't take the back wall of the house with them when they move out?

Saw a great one today --- kitchen appliances and cabinets had been removed ---- and dumped in the pool. Ah, yes. I thought the package of kielbasa was a nice touch --- guess that means the fridge is in there underneath the sectional sofa.

The sofa looks pretty good , maybe you could dry it out...:rof:

My favorite was a manufactured home that was picked clean, the toilets, the cabinets, the copper wiring, hot water heater, furnace, appliances all gone. Then they left the water running until it got to the bottom of the windows. Someone finally turned off the water main. When I got there the mold appearing substance was waist high throughout the house, and the subflooring was warped and very soft. I was grateful for my size 16 feet that day.

What makes anyone think those houses were in better shape when Skippy appraised them at purchase ????
