WI will recover. It may or may not be in a different form, but they will recover.
AZ on the other hand, will remain in a continuous state of vulnerability without the feds on their side. Nothing will change for AZ until a true illegal immigrant attempts to murder an AZ congressman/woman. It is brutal, yet reflects how selfish our government is day to day.

Its happening in Indiana too. I don't like it but the democrats here are effectively exercising a fillibuster, the same thing that happens in the US Senate all the time. There is no provision in this state (and I suspect other states as well) for a fillibuster maneuver. I haven't voted for a democrat since Jimmy Carter (learned my lesson there) but I support what they are doing in this case.

Personally, I think there should be rule or constitutional amendment that says that no single party can have control of the entire legislative branch; too much power for any single group of politicians.

But besides that, the Wisconsin National Guard is already there. What good would this do? The wayward democrats are in Illinois; the same place as the Indiana democrats. Nothing will change until they come home.

Illinois, the haven for big government, unions, and home to BHO. No wonder it's following California down the tubes.

The only problem is the the "CEO" in this case is the taxpayers...who are not paid as much as the public employee on average nor have the medical or pension benefits. I know a school teacher on a T drop program that alllows her to accumlate a pension beyond that already earned and while they contibute to their insurance plan, it is still much less than half the cost of mine.

Fact is that everyone wants everyone else to take the haircut and some of us are already bald.

In the early 2000's, the state Dem Senate members in Texas ran to New Mexico to avoid redistricting. It resulted in a judge doing the redistricting. However, this time around, there's a quorum-proof Rep majority, so that dog won't hunt this year. WI, etc learned the tactic from Texas.

No, the CEO is the elected official. The taxpayers are merely the stockholders of the company. The CEO is suppose to lookout for the interests of the stockholders, but is merely looking to keep his job. The cookie story fits the situation nicely. Union or no union, the "CEO" needs to do the same job in deciding what to pay employees. Negotiating with the unions is no more problematic than what is happening now. The whole thing in Wisconsin is a lot of BS on both sides.

I never understand why in the minds of Republicans a Democratic politician fillibustering is any different than a Republican fillerbustering. Business or government negotiated with unions to reach an labor agreements. Our economy is in the toilet because Wall Street (and many appraisers) was making huge bags of gold selling subprime mortgages and credit default swaps on those mortgage bonds. With regard to pensions remember govt employees don't get SS and to some extent that is reflected in their "generous" pension plans. Many govt pension plans are underfunded because the politicians in charge somehow believed 12% returns were sustainable in the long run. That allowed them to divert funds into pet projects that got them relected. Most people, conservatives included, are very depended on goverment services. Just try to take theur Medicare away and listen to them squawk.
