How does Illinois want the AMC clients name identified in the report?

a) An appraiser shall identify an appraisal management company as the client if the appraisal management company is engaging the appraiser.

An AMC contacted me using the name SOBSAMC and provided their Illinois registration number 558042069.

The Current List of AMC Registrants identifies the registration number as belonging to FBSAMC.

In the report i identified the client as FBSAMC because that is how they are registered in Illinois.

They are now asking me to change it to SOBSAMC as per the order.

I dont have a problem with changing it and understand that the registered AMC could have legitimate reasons for having different names.

IMHO opinion, that AMC has a bit of a challenge in front of them and they don't want to be messing around with name-switching. If it were me, I would share this information with Brian Weaver, AMC Coordinator.

Attending to this matter is not at all complicated. An AMC has to be registered to do business in Illinois. The state maintains an online list of registered AMCs along with their registration number. An AMC either is registered and listed or it is not. If not so listed, the appraiser is not to enter in an assignment with them. E-Z, P-Z.

They may have a legitimate reason, BUT, the name is not registered. It is their problem. Don't make it your problem.

Why not contact your State Board and simply tell them the discrepancie between the order and the States site and see what they say.

Yes, you might just find out from the State Board this AMC has legal issues or OWES appraisers a small fortune....

AMC registration numbers aren't nearly that high. Tell the SOBs they need to use their real name and registration.
