“I am really concerned,” said Paul Kanitra, mayor of Point Pleasant Beach, a popular shore town that was unexpectedly overrun by thousands of tourists who swarmed the beach and boardwalk a few weeks ago at a “pop-up party,” paying little heed to social distancing or masks.

In an open air environment, the risk is less and the creation of herd immunity while the elderly shelter is probably our best strategy to shed ourselves of the virus. That was the very prediction from the first, a sharp rise then leveling off with steady numbers for a long time. This is not a bell curve, going up to an apex then back down to zero. It is a skewed fat-tailed curve. Up at power law speed and collapsing but with a long tail. At some point the government will have to accept the fact people do not like to be told what to do, especially when it constricts their movement. And I doubt compliance with further mandated, illegal "quarantines" will work. Sweden is proving day by day that the results of mandatory compliance vs voluntarily compliance is identical and the economy there has suffered little and the government isn't picking winners and losers like the governors here are.

Social distancing and mask wearing worked here to save our neighbors, our medical staff, and keep the firefighters on the job and healthy. Making the best of a bad situation.

But hey party on, dudes. It is all about personal rights. Somebody must miss arguing over auto seat belts.

Terrel I still have not gotten over your doctor herself refusing to wear a mask meeting with you, especially with all your medical conditions. I am guessing you are not her only patient, either. Your state's infection rate is very troubling so maybe she will adapt.

Test for Past Infection (Antibody Test) | CDC

A positive test result shows you might have antibodies from an infection with the virus that causes COVID-19. However, there is a chance a positive result means that you have antibodies from an infection with a virus from the same family of viruses (called coronaviruses), such as the one that causes the common cold.

What Does a False Positive Coronavirus Test Result Mean ...

"Different strains of the coronavirus circulate every year, causing the common cold," he says. "This means blood tests may cross-react and deliver a false positive if a patient has been ...

Here is how common cold can be confused with COVID-19
https://www.local10.com/news/local/...-common-cold-can-be-confused-for-coronavirus/
More than 200 types of viruses can cause the common cold, but rhinoviruses are the most common and experts can use a quick confirmatory test to tell the difference.

"Sweden has a ton of structural advantages over most other countries to keep the deaths down. Low population density. High % of single-person households. High % of people who can work from home. Good general health (low comorbidities). Highly functional healthcare system. Low levels of travel from/to China and Lombardy compare to other counties with similar rates of death. Extensive social safety net. Generous policies to give people leave in absence from work. They’ve done far, far worse than other counties with similar advantages. Their death rate is multiples higher. It doesn’t firm a good comparison for basing policies in most other countries."

Renee -Actually very surprised Connecticut death rate is crazy high when showing 671 dead and its a small State population so your Governor and its citizens have no bragging rights when it comes to the Covid-19 war. In Orange County CA -One County south of me the population of over three million just a little smaller than the entire State of Connecticut and it only has 354 Deaths, and much ifs population is on Beach Communities- including Beach Boys Surf City USA Huntington Beach. So looks like Connecticut not has not fared so well especially considering its peoples, slower lifestyle and not a dump for refugees. Arkansas I believe has less about 280 deaths so it looks good, of course like everywhere else eh more testing the more positive cases are going to show increasing.

I only follow the death rate because to much gets lost in the chatter of new cases testing positive and now thats also become political tool and there is no rational dialog. A Local LA reporter asked Dr Birks what effect the 21,000 protestors had in California, 25% to 30% without masks and all standing 1 to 3 feet from each-other yelling , screaming and breaking windows. She kept dodging the question and never did answer. Finally the reporter said well I guess Covid-19 only is contagious on the Beaches or in restaurants, in California : ) LMAO

exactly and it continues to fall. This pathogen spread too far too quickly to be contained by quarantine. And likely it was here weeks if not months earlier than reported. I believe they have now pushed back the date of first US infection to Jan. 20 with some evidence of a death 2 weeks earlier.
Low population density.
Their population is, like Canada, mostly along the southern border. Don't even register here.

What the heck happened to you during your childhood that makes you think like this? It's stunning.
