2020 - main bedroom, family bedrooms, guest bedroom(s).

Simple and "politically correct".

Fini.

I took a class well over 15 yrs ago and was told not to use "Master" so I just use M Bedroom, etc. I was also told in this class to no longer use "Walk in Closet" as not everyone can walk (true story).

"Family" room, etc, was also not PC I think.
I think FHA made some noise about 10 years ago, maybe less, about the word "family". It was in regards to calling a dwelling a single-family. The question arose, "what is considered a family in todays world"? I call it a single unit residential (SUR) now. The change from FHA never materialized but, I kept calling it a SUR, anyway.

I don't do political correctness.. but I also haven't found any reason that labeling a bedroom on the floor plan sketch as 'Master Bedroom' rather than simply 'Bedroom', has any impact on value or the credibility of the report.... so I don't... and never have. It's not our job to market the property. Just to appraise it.

Political Correctness:

"the avoidance, often considered as taken to extremes, of forms of expression or action that are perceived to exclude, marginalize, or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against. "

Why would anyone intentionally not be politically correct. It's not a nefarious scheme. Just being sensitive to your fellow man.

Not everyone responds well to Karen. I think we'd do better to appealing to professionalism and framing this in terms of impartiality and objectivity and avoiding exposure to complaints.
