Best Camera For Appraisals

Anyone use an Android Tablet for inspections so you can click and tap to place your photos in the report on the spot?

With these damn AMCs requiring photos of every room I am considering a Tablet for time savings.

Every day. It's all about creating the right templates in your mobile device.

That said, to answer the OP...I just transitioned to the Tab S6 for mobile/field inspections. Exceptional camera & comes with a wide angle lens. More than adequate for the work we do.

If you take the pics in the mobile app, then it's quicker, however the thing I don't like is the photos are only saved in the software workfile....which is never a good idea.

You can change the setting within the app to save to the workfile as well as local on the device for redundant backup. And moreso if you use Google Photos or similar. Don't ask me how I know.

i have solely used phone cameras for almost 20 years and no one has ever said anything about my pics. 640x480 is the way to go, lol.

Only way to go, camera is great, wide angle clip on lenses are cheap. The entire report is at your fingertips so frankly you can complete as much of the report onsite as you want to. The sketch app could use some work but it does save time. If you give the tablet internet wifi (phone hotspot) or buy a cell plan alamode will map out the comps and they go straight into the report. The time savings is in the photo handling, no more file transfers and dragging in photos. The software, like all software has a learning curve. Dedicate some time on it, it pays off.

Didn't like taking pics with the I-pad. but the Galaxy S-10 works great with the Mobile app including the comps pics. But you have to check every pic as ok before it saves on the form so its a multi step process.
I keep my old trusty cybershot point and shoot around for complex assignments when i need to take lots of pic really fast and then upload the ones I want later.

iPhone 11 here. Can't complain. It's just annoying when a client keeps calling while I'm trying to take photos

I want in and out of the inspection as quick as possible so I still take photos with a Sony point and shoot that fits in my pocket and my phone as a backup. It only takes me a minute to transfer the photos to the folder.

To answer the OP's question - I've never concerned myself about getting the entire bathroom in the photo. I try to get enough of the sink, shower/tub toilet in the photo for the client to see it, but I don't think much about it. If the bathroom is large I'll put multiple photos in the report.

With a cheap panoramic stitching software, you can shoot as "wide" as you want by taking overlapping pix and stitching them together. This is about 4 pix put together
