There was a nearby situation at a McD's, customers would hand their debit/credit card to the drive thru attendant who would process their sale. Oh, and also take photos of the card. $50,000 has been fraudulently charged to folks.

Not as appraiser....but as Agent a background check is required prior to initial licensure in my state. As Appraiser I am required to disclose any lawsuits, arrests etc. at time of license renewal. No background check was ever required of me as Appraiser aside from some AMC's.

I'm happy to submit to background check for any client as long as they pay for the pleasure. If they want me to pay for it...I pass.

CA appraisal board advised me that self-reporting during license renewal is mandatory of any issue that requires a fine of more than...I think it was $500...even for a traffic light violation.

BTW, something like 70% of the arrestees (for all crimes) who get booked into our County Jail have drugs or alcohol onboard at intake. Drug/alcohol usage tends to be one of those pesky contributing factors to a large percentage of all crimes against persons and property.
