Are the AMCs that are developing PAREA going to provide the program for free, then lock down their employees in non-competes?
Highly likely. And Halliburton did the same to my son, so it’s not an uncommon practice.

So they’re gonna recruit minorities and make them sign non-competes for a career that few of us would encourage our own children to enter? Yikes. Maybe appraisers are racist?

I am not part of the institute, but I was told it takes about 3,000 of logged appraisal experience to qualify for their SRA designation.

They are spending millions to develop their new PAREA program requiring a fraction of that to become a fully licensed professional.

I suppose their thinking must be that PAREA experience is substantial enough to be a professional appraiser, but it isn’t professional enough in order to wear their brand. I‘m not suggesting anything is wrong with that, but I wonder if it erodes the value of a needed designation even further.

In the hearing yesterday, there was some suggestion that Michelle Bradley has been accused of having conflicts of interest because of her position with the ASB. I personally think Ms Michelle is a really good person, so that confused me.

What conflict of interest involving her position were they referring to?

AI should throw in an SRA designation for all parea graduates. I bet if you offered to pay double, they would.

No one can serve two masters.

That was exposed here last year and was meet by furious opposition by the “Friends Network”.
