Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Admits She Did NOT Read ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’?

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said she was unaware of a section in the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ that stripped states of the right to enact laws and regulations regarding artificial intelligence for 10 years.

“Full transparency, I did not know about this section on pages 278-279 of the OBBB that strips states of the right to make laws or regulate AI for 10 years,” Greene said.

“I am adamantly OPPOSED to this and it is a violation of state rights and I would have voted NO if I had known this was in there,” she added.

its not like they are regulating waivers anyways... :rof:

Ironically, she could have asked for an AI summary of the bill before voting on it.

I agree with some of these criticisms. There is no such thing as a "no-compromise" spending package but I think they made too many compromises on this one.

But, the "this sux" criticism is always made in isolation of the context of "compared to what?". We rarely seem to consider comparing to the alternative of what a different POTUS or a different Congress would have done. I think that's a mistake.

May broke another record:

Lenders delivered $1.34BN (2.36%) with inspection based appraisal waivers in May, up 29.7% on April. This is the highest month on record, the 3rd month to have surpassed 2% of loan balance issued, and the 4th month where issuance have exceeded $1BN since the GSE programs started. By loan count inspection based appraisal waivers were 2.95% of issuance.

Overall, inspection based waivers in May were 12.9% of the combined non-appraisal solutions by loan balance. By number of loans delivered, inspection-based waivers were 14.8% of all waiver solutions.

Combined use of inspection based waivers and appraisal waivers in May was 18.4% by balance and 19.9% by loan count.

As is well documented, the USPAP has never required an inspection. The reason it ever became a requirement was because users required it. And that was mainly because there was no other way to get the data needed, Things have changed. There are other ways to get the relevant data, and some users no longer require it in certain circumstances.
Are there many situations where that may not be true? USPAP requires credible results.

You do interest me in "There are other ways to get the relevant data, and some users no longer require it in certain circumstances."

You intrigue me on who is setting those circumstances on being credible.
