Natural sweetener erythritol linked to stroke risk

It is less about what and more about "how much". And you pay dearly for it (and you thought the US Government was anti-cartel)!

"For decades, the federal government has been operating a program to control the production and importation of sugar. One of the program’s main purposes is to ensure minimum price levels for sugar that are typically significantly higher than those found on international markets, leading to higher costs for U.S. consumers. As a result, the federal government is, in essence, the leader of a nationwide sugar cartel."

An isolated "study" does not mean a damned thing.

Fooled by Randomness

At some point you must accept that 40 "studies" will yield 40 results that will have outliers in two directions. Example? Despite correlation with the number of Vietnam vets with Agent Orange poisoning, the Air Force people loading the planes with this chemical were found to suffer fewer instances of Agent Orange poisoning than did the soldiers exposed to the aerosol spray even though many of them actually stuck their bare arms in the stuff.

These single studies are unproven, unprovable and are basically worthless until the study can be replicated repeatedly. Every single sweetner has been "proven" by one study or another to be harmful. Every additive, dye, and chemical in food has had at least one "proven" negative outcome. Do you ever read about a study that proves an item is helpful to your health? If it does, then the study authors are labeled a shill for the makers. Go figure. If you drink 2 gallons of water you will die. So?

Will use butter/margerine as an example. Put a plate with each one outside. Only eat the one that the ants choose.
Some of the chit we've been eating is better used to kill ants. Spread those chemical sweeteners around your house perimeter.
Stevia good from my meager understanding.

The wife is a diabetic but hates the aftertaste of artificial sweeteners. She has been using stevia for sweetening her tea and we try to find other products that use stevia. More are becoming available
I use stevia and monkfruit, there are natural alternatives to refined sugar which is basically poison.

I love reading those examples where people put poison processed food outside and insects and animals won't eat it. There is a city somewhere with a McDonald's quarter pounder that's been safely hiding in plain sight behind a wall for 2 years and he posts updates about it, even the rats won't touch it.

Yeah, they were wrong with fats (I don't even want to go into the politics of it all, RFK already has). Eating fats don't make you fat, sugar and bread/white carbs do. Kick those two and you will be in the top 20% in terms of health.

read the labels of stevia and monkfruit - on many brands esp in mainstream stores, if the ingredients list artificial sweetners along with the stevia or monkfruit.

Stevia is bitter to the palates of many people. Maltitol is a sugar alcohol, nearly identical formula as sucrose. Somewhat reduced impact upon glucose although it has carbs. Like most things, the dose makes the poison. Your body will suffer without some minor amounts of selenium, even arsenic, but it's thousands of a dose that can kill you.

She has been using stevia
Like I said Stevia is bitter to me, very bitter, lemon juice bitter. Monk Fruit has a twang I don't like and the granular versions are difficult to get to dissolve in tea unless it is hot. Cold tea you'd need to blend or mix with a hot tea (not sun tea) before chilling. Frankly I am not 'afraid' of any of them. Nothing is without risk.

Read the directions. Monk fruit is often blended with Erythritol.
I didn’t say I use artificial sweeteners, I said I use stevia and monk fruit.
