If the DSA controlled a majority in Congress ..... (appraisal related)

Those nations are also, or at least were, fairly homogeneous. We’re trying some weird extrovert here these days. So far it’s not really working.
IDK how much homogeneous holds true. Human beings of different political beliefs or ethnic groups have a same human biology and face the same illnesses and health challenges. Certain policies such as a national health care /medicare for all benefrts the many. Individuals could choose to opt out and pay for their own private care.

What's fun about our political system is that we can carry on without missing a beat if different communities choose to create their own communes and live to the socialist values they espouse. Vermont or Massachusetts could go socialist and operate at those values. Nobody outside of that state would notice. Or care. They can murder babies (thx, SCOTUS for acknowledging their states rights) , they can give free 3bd/2ba homes to the homeless, they could run UBI programs at the livable wage, they could decriminalize crimes against property or low level assaults, they could cut their convicts loose "out of compassion". They can have anything they want if they're willing to pay for it.

So there's your exit ramp from the situation where most normal people prioritize the well being of their own households ahead of their "social obligations" to strangers. Move to Vermont and foment their conversion to Euro-style socialism. I'm sure the vacancy you leave in FL will be filled before you unpack in your new destination.
You cherry picked imagination of what the states if socilist has to offer is simply choosing the worst aspects. Well it is your thread.

The point of having national programs such as health care is the large economy of scale which is not present at a state level. For example, a "red " state can keep its rugged culture but still enjoy the health care offered by a nationalized cost-effective basis.

The problem with politics here is that it has become identity based whether left or right, and thus has stopped serving essential needs that transcend curated idenity images and life style. Have whatever lifestyle you want in any state, at least you will have health care and not go broke if you get sick.

Imo the fear mongering of if DSA wins some seats America will go full socialist is greatly exagerated.

Plenty of women from red states travel to blue states that allow abortion for the procedure.

If men got pregnant instead of women, give nthe much higher male homicide rate, the baby murder rate (your words ) would be far higher .

Sooo, we can now acknowledge that SCOTUS didn't outlaw babymurder on the nationwide basis after all.

I guarantee that if men had an equal/equitable level of post-conception "choice" that women have a lot of women would suddenly become a lot more competent with managing their own reproductive health. Less paternity fraud, too.

Chad said " I have no doubt this will be a socialist country in 10 years. Maybe less"

It may be less because we will be full on communist, but it may fracture us into civil war We do have 2a

It doesn't matter which of the particulars they want; they still have the freedom to exercise those prerogatives. Which they wouldn't have in most or all of the more socialized systems. Those systems are not economically viable if a bunch of people attempt to opt out.

Look at what's happening to the ACA as more subscribers opt out. It's become less viable as that trend increases.

Plenty of women from red states travel to blue states that allow abortion for the procedure.
And Texas offers a $10,000 bounty to vigilantes for anyone they can catch doing that. Below are the actions of Christo-fascists who don't believe in the constitutional guarantees of privacy.

AI Overview

In Texas, where abortion is almost entirely illegal, search terms that show an intent to end a pregnancy are dangerous because they generate digital evidence that can be used by law enforcement or vigilante lawsuits. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
Specific search terms that can trigger these risks include:
    • Abortion medications: e.g., "mifepristone," "misoprostol," "how to get abortion pills online" [1]
    • Out-of-state travel: e.g., "abortion clinics in New Mexico," "out of state abortion travel costs" [1, 2]
    • Medical procedures: e.g., "how to terminate a pregnancy at home," "D and C for missed miscarriage" [1, 2, 3]
Why these terms are dangerous:
    • Digital Dragnets: Courts can issue "keyword warrants" to search engines like Google. This forces tech companies to hand over a list of every user who searched for specific banned words, allowing authorities to conduct a fishing expedition for potential prosecution. [1, 2]
    • Data Brokers: Your search history, location, and ad clicks are routinely gathered by tracking companies. Police and anti-abortion groups can simply buy these sensitive datasets to track users, bypassing the need for a traditional search warrant. [1, 2]
    • Flock Safety Cameras: Texas law enforcement also uses automated license plate readers—like those made by Flock Safety—to track and monitor drivers they suspect are traveling to out-of-state clinics. [1, 2, 3]
    • Crisis Pregnancy Centers: Searching for local abortion clinics often directs users to "crisis pregnancy centers". These anti-abortion centers use deceptive advertising to appear like medical clinics, which can delay your access to real healthcare or put your digital privacy at risk

States rights, same as when other states allow the murder to continue past the point of preemie viability.

Cuba was not always communist — communism only arrived after 1959, when Fidel Castro took power and later aligned the country with the Soviet Union. Before that, Cuba had centuries of colonial rule, wars for independence, and a U.S.-influenced capitalist republic.

Venezuela used to be one of the richest nations in the world. Until....
