I just wanted to reach out to other local Appraisers in the Baltimore/Harford Region of Maryland to see if anyone can recommend a CPA that specializes in very small Residential Appraisal Firms. I have a small Appraisal Company that I formed as an LLC S-Corp along with that I filing jointly with my wife who is paid on a simple W-2.

I had 2 Independent Contractors working with me this year so I will have two 1099-Misc Forms to give out as well.

I also was blessed with the birth of twins during the 2015 year, so I have had some major changes since my last tax return. MY prior CPA just didnt give me the service I deserved and charged me way too much for being a long-term loyal client.

So I am just asking if their is anyone or company that any local Appraisers can refer me to, I would greatly appreciate it. My email address is QuickValue@gmail.com. I am hoping there is a CPA located in my area that is very knowledgeable with doing Tax returns for small Appraisal Firms givin all the write-offs and other itemized things that come along with being self-employed.

Thanks Happy New Year

I have done my own with TurboTax for more than 15 years, cost $100 per year and a good half day of inputting.
Expenses are kept with Quickbooks.

Any simple accounting program and tax program will be much cheeper than any CPA.

Congrats on the twins. Busy busy you are. :coolsmiley:

Can't help with a CPA. But have been good with HR Block. Fill out forms online, then go with the option for a tax person to review.
Works for me and they can answer questions and help save you a few bucks. Good luck with it. :peace:

When my math teacher friend decided it was too much they took their taxes to an expert. They ended up filing X returns for five years back. Got several thousands back. Turbo tax is a program. It's no better than the person inputting it. It doesn't know how to ask the right question. And there is no one to fall back on when you get "that letter". H & R Block can beat that...not that I would use them either.

I agree, I have been using Liberty Tax for years. She fixed my past returns and I was sold. She is now an expert in my business where my taxes are concerned. I recommend starting way before tax season and speaking with some of these shop owners and make sure they are doing yoru taxes and not a certified tax prepper. My person is a full fledged accountant. CPA is a little more than you need, like a CG doing a narrative appraisal on a townhome.

I think depends how complex your financial situation is.
If you're a player, maybe get in the stock market, have multiple biz interests, you need an accountant.

If you're more of a craftsman, workingman, situation not too complex, keep it simple stupid...
Blockhead or similar might be fine. My $2.

Did anyone else get hit with the $1500 Obamacare penalty even though you bought an insurance plan through the State exchange?

This is why I no longer work in public accounting. Quickbooks and Turbo Tax are to CPAs what AVMs are to appraisers. Legal Zoom is doing the same thing to lawyers.
